Idea: commission [or allow] Stencil Art on anything that is bland, ugly, unloved.
think Bansky. witty playful art peppering the city. low cost, low risk, fun.
maybe a policy that requires a building owner to provide street art on a buliding if they leave it vacant for 3 years or more???
maybe a quick audit of the 100 ugliest blights on the city which are then offered up as sites for intervention, to be completed within 100 days.

Forget Banksy, think Nish Cash, KAB, Sam Evans, Seb Humphreys, Store, Jimmy C & Fredrock.....Gery Seaman, James Dodd...Benzo..
It is widely recognised that we have some of the world's best graffiti & street artists living in South Australia.
Promoting future ideas with local artists as the starting point and asking them what sites would be suitable - now there's an innovative idea ;)
The Union Lane in Melbourne works well (as well as some other laneways I can't remember their names) and eventually became one of the tourist spots, in addition to managed laneways like Central Place which incorporates vibrant cafe culture within the compact space.
Perhaps we could rent out the walls 100 days at a time to allow for fresh designs, pieces, paste ups, stickers etc to emerge as younger artists become more aware of this different media slowly creeping into Adelaide.
thumbs up for more public art on buildings, surfaces etc
